Mastering Spiritual Warfare: Nuggets for Winning Spiritual Battles (Part 6)

Winning any spiritual battles or spiritual warfare in life requires intentionality. In 1 Corinthians 9:26, Paul says “I do not fight as one who beats the air”. The illustration Paul is using here is what boxers call shadow boxing. If you ask any boxer, whether amateur or professional, they will tell you that shadow boxing is only good enough for training. You don't get in the boxing ring with an opponent and begin to shadow box. If you do, your opponent will allow you to waste your energy, and when he spots weakness or an opportunity, you may get a punch that will knock you out.

From episode 29 to episode 33 of the Voice of Alignment podcast, we've delved into the realm of spiritual battles, emphasizing the path to victory. In 1 Corinthians 15:57, we find assurance: "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!" Victory in these battles is not just a possibility; it's our reality.

In episode 34, we continue our discussion of these strategies, focusing on the power of speaking. Speaking in the context of spiritual warfare encompasses various dimensions of utterance, all crucial for success.

Why is speaking so vital in winning spiritual battles?

  • Spiritual Realm Responds to Utterances: Unlike the physical realm, where motion depends on physical actions, in the spiritual realm, utterance drives change. As humans created in God's image, we can shape reality through our words. (Genesis 1:3, Hebrews 11:3, Hebrews 1:3)

  • Spiritual Realm Is Legalistic: The spiritual realm operates on principles and arguments. Just as in a court system, reasons matter. (Isaiah 41:21, Revelation 12:10) Satan, the accuser, may exploit legal grounds against believers, but we have an advocate in Jesus. (1 John 2:1)

  • Utterances Convey Authority: Utterances are the vehicles for exercising our authority over the enemy. Jesus demonstrated this authority through spoken words, commanding demons and nature itself. (Luke 10:19, Matthew 18:18)

In episode 34, you will find that to effectively utilize this authority, it's crucial to overcome silence, which can cripple your spiritual power. Intentionality in speaking is key, ensuring that your utterances align with your goals in the battle.
